Subject: Important Update: Band Transportation Plan

Dear Band Families, Students, and Supporters,

About six weeks ago, we faced significant challenges with our transportation for band competitions. Following a thorough inspection, we discovered multiple issues with our tractor and trailer that prevent them from being DOT ready.

While this setback was unexpected, it has prompted us to reassess our future program goals. We’ve learned that many area schools have transitioned to using pull-behind enclosed trailers for transporting instruments and props. After careful consideration, the Pike Central Band and Band Boosters have decided on a two-step plan to reduce long-term risks while ensuring the growth and sustainability of our program.

Step 1: We will launch a fundraising campaign to secure funds for a pull-behind trailer, ideally between 24 and 34 feet in length. Our goal is to purchase this trailer before our first Indoor Percussion Competition in February.

Step 2: We will list our current tractor and trailer for sale, with the intention of using the proceeds to buy a second trailer of similar size, ready for the Marching band season next summer.

Step 3: We will implement regular preventive maintenance and repairs on any new vehicles, coordinated directly through the Pike Central Band.
