Get the blood pumping while feeling the rhythm and creating lasting memories with family and friends as you groove to the beat during our four-part weekly Zumba series hosted by 100 Black Men of Syracuse on consecutive Saturdays at noon beginning July 12, 2025 and ending August 2, 2025. All workout sessions will be held at Community Folk Art Center, 805 East Genesee St. in Syracuse.

Each hour-long workout session is led by instructor Ebony Unique, founder and CEO of Unique Consults LLC.

What is Zumba?

Zumba is a fitness program that involves cardio and Latin-inspired dance. It was founded by Colombian dancer and choreographer Beto Pérez in 2001. Its name comes from Colombia, where it means something like “having fun” or “moving fast.” Zumba improves cardiovascular health, builds endurance, and helps with weight loss and body toning. A one-hour mid-to-high-intensity Zumba workout can burn between 300 and 900 calories. Additionally, Zumba can reduce stress, boost mood, and enhance coordination.
