60 Years of Caring

In 1966, Crisis Support Services of Nevada (CSSNV) was created as an outreach program of the University of Nevada, Reno, in response to the high rate of suicide in Nevada.

What began as a single landline operated by volunteers 24 hours a day has grown into a coordinated system of crisis response.

Today, Crisis Support Services of Nevada is Northern Nevada’s 24/7/365 crisis contact center and the region’s provider of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Our remarkable team answers multiple specialized hotlines, connects individuals to care through our Care Coordination Unit, and our Victim Services Unit provides in-person advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence.

Each month, our team fields thousands of calls, texts, and chats, supports survivors of sexual violence, and assists individuals navigating complex situations to access care and services.

This work requires constant readiness. Trained staff, reliable technology, and strong partnerships must be in place at all times to ensure support is available when it is needed most.
