💻 Connecting Classrooms: 26 Laptops Bound for Kenya

A local California school generously donated 26 Dell laptops and Chromebooks to Wings of Hope Global Cooperative, each one soon to become a window to the world for students at Punyua Primary School, a small Maasai school in rural Kenya.

🌍 Why This School Matters

When we visited Punyua Primary School this past summer, we met over 1,000 students, ages 2 to 15, who are taught by only 10 teachers. The classrooms were full of energy and curiosity, but resources were limited. Some rooms had dirt floors, and the teachers shared that what they needed most was a way for their students to connect with the world beyond their small village.

They asked if we could help bring computers to their school.

These laptops will be their first. The students will have the chance to learn basic computer skills and explore what’s possible beyond their four walls. The school has electricity and even access to internet, though it’s unreliable at times. Still, having laptops that can be charged and shared among students will make a world of difference.

This is about more than technology: it’s about opportunity, connection, and hope.

🌍 Baltimore → Kenya (including import fees): $250
🔒 Secure laptop lockers for the school: $50

🎯 Total Goal: $600

Any funds raised beyond this goal will go directly to Wings of Hope Global Cooperative to support our other ongoing projects in education, healthcare, and clean water.

🤝 How We’re Getting Them There

To make this possible, we’re working with Kenya Connect, a nonprofit that’s been expanding digital literacy in rural Kenyan schools since 2002. Their team has connected us with trusted partners to get the laptops from Baltimore to Kenya for about $250.

They’ve also offered to host a virtual call with our Kenya-based partner Kikanae, to help guide him on how to train the teachers at Punyua Primary School once the laptops arrive — ensuring the computers are put to good use in the classroom from day one.

Because sometimes, hope travels in boxes full of laptops, across the ocean.
