In a small town like ours, people show up for each other.

At Darlington County Humane Society, we see that same spirit every day, especially when it comes to our animals.

Dogs do not arrive at our doors with perfect histories. Some come from neglect. Some come from uncertainty. Many come with medical needs that are invisible at first glance. One of the most common and costly is heartworm disease.

Heartworm treatment can cost hundreds of dollars per dog, but it is also one of the clearest examples of hope in action. With treatment, a dog who once had no future can go on to live a long, healthy, loved life. Without it, that future disappears.

That is where our community comes in.
