A one-night reading of the play Voices from the Silenced featuring a cast of renown women from stage and screen.

All proceeds benefit the Center for Reproductive Rights and the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine Access (the ACT Group).

In the aftermath of last year’s Supreme Court’s decision to overturn women’s rights to safe/legal abortions, two friends with theatre backgrounds, Victoria Rue and Martha Boesing, living in a senior community in Northern California, felt compelled to act. They gathered stories from women in their community who had abortions before Roe v. Wade. Many of them had never shared their experiences before. They wove these stories into a powerful one act play: Voices From The Silenced. The docudrama illuminates the harsh realities countless women faced when abortion was illegal, demonstrating the impossible, daunting reality women are facing once again.

On October 21st, at Peter Norton Symphony Space in NYC, under the direction of Zoya Kachadurian, a cast of women from stage and screen will perform a one-night only reading of this powerful play to raise funds for two national non-profit organizations which support - legally and financially - women who are being denied their fundamental reproductive freedom.
