Last year’s kitchen fundraiser was a huge success! We are so thankful for those who allowed us to bring water back to our Ronesa School community in 2024 and in 2025 build a kitchen for the staff and students. We desperately need to turn our attention toward continuing to improve the infrastructure of our school; including an eating area for our current students and staff.

At Ronesa Junior School, the lack of a dedicated dining facility has turned what should be a time of nourishment and community into a daily struggle for both students and staff. Currently, children are forced to eat their meals outdoors, often sitting directly on the dusty ground or balancing on unstable, decaying benches that pose a safety risk. This exposed environment leaves the school community vulnerable to the elements—whether enduring the harsh Kenyan sun or the disruptions of the rainy season—while compromising basic hygiene and dignity. Constructing a proper dining hall is not just about providing four walls and a roof; it is about creating a clean, safe, and stable environment where students can focus on their growth and education rather than the discomfort of their surroundings.

The Run for Ronesa 5K event isn't just about running or walking — it's about supporting the future of the bright young students at Ronesa Junior School. All funds raised will go directly toward building the dining hall, ensuring that students and staff members have a safe, nutritious space to enjoy their meals and continue their education with energy and focus. With your help, we can provide these students with the resources they need to thrive.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just in it for the walk, this is an amazing opportunity to get active, have fun, and make a lasting difference. Something special for this year, Julie and Kim are bringing others from the Shaffer Community to Ronesa and they all will get to run with the kids in Kenya in early June, so if you sponsor a student to run, we will be doing it with them and will share our pictures after!
