OUR STORY

When Hurricane Melissa swept through western Jamaica, lives changed in an instant. Homes were damaged, schools were disrupted, and thousands of families were left to rebuild.

Today, while communities continue to recover, many parents are still working to restore stability for their children. As another school year begins, the cost of school supplies, textbooks, and other educational essentials remains an added burden for families already doing everything they can to move forward.

This year, Children for Change is dedicating our 9th Annual Gift an Education Campaign to supporting students across Westmoreland by providing backpacks, school supplies, textbooks, and educational resources that help them begin the 2026–2027 school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Because education is more than preparing for the classroom—it helps build resilience for life.

WHY EDUCATION MATTERS

A backpack may not rebuild a home.

A textbook cannot replace what was lost.

To provide educational resources and support that help students in Westmoreland overcome barriers to learning while easing one burden for families as they continue recovering from Hurricane Melissa.
