In 2019, our co-founders made a visionary decision, rooted in both love and responsibility: If traditional soccer clubs weren’t built for their community, they would build one that was.

Street Dreams Soccer Academy began with five childhood friends gathered over cafecito, catching up, reminiscing about soccer and their childhoods. They realized a gap they saw growing up: they were fortunate to have benefitted from club soccer — but far too many of their neighborhood friends, cousins, sometimes even siblings, didn’t get the chance to experience club soccer like them. Why?

The Barriers of Traditional Club Soccer Models

Costly and expensive registration fees
Practice locations outside their neighborhoods, often too far from home
Language barriers that left parents overwhelmed — or even excluded from the picture
An environment that didn’t feel like theirs

As adults, they realized all the positive that the world of club soccer brought to their lives — opening doors such as collegiate-level soccer play, lifelong friendships, network and connections, and helping shape who they became. But the founders couldn’t shake the feeling: If soccer could transform their own lives, why was that same opportunity blocked for so many others?

That question changed everything. So they set out to build that space within their community. In 2019, Street Dreams Soccer Academy was born, and created for Milwaukee's South Side community.

Our Growth Over the Years & Our Impact

Since 2019, Street Dreams has grown from a small group of players to a thriving academy serving hundreds of Milwaukee youth.

SDSA TIMELINE

2019: Street Dreams Soccer Academy is created to bring competitive, affordable, community-based club soccer to Milwaukee’s South Side. Due to COVID-19, a pause in club soccer programming nationwide occurs.
2020-2021: The first official club season kicks off with 2 teams — U11 and U13 Boys — 36 players, and the 5 co-founders serving as coaches.
2021–2022: The following year, SDSA doubles to 4 teams, 70 players; teams continue competing — and winning.
2022-2023: SDSA launches its Youth Academy with its first-ever U8 Boys team, marking the start of programming for younger players.
2023- 2024: At this point, we have 17 teams, 230 players, 19 coaches. In this year, the 2009 Blue team wins the WYSA Wisconsin Presidents Cup, and advances to represent Wisconsin at Regionals.
2024-2025: SDSA launches our first-ever girls' teams. By the end of this year, 4 teams finish as league champions. Hidalgo MKE joins Street Dreams.
2025-NOW: 3 teams compete in the Midwest Conference Regional League for the first time ever in club history, including the original 2008 team, graduating this year— the first SDSA cohort to compete with SDSA from the beginning of SDSA history.

Today

Over 400 players from Milwaukee neighborhoods have gained access to club soccer through SDSA since 2019. As of the 2025–26 season, we have 360+ players across 22 teams, 5 of which are all-girls teams, supported by 23 coaches. We host U8–U19 Boys and U8–U14 Girls age groups.

Our Commitment to Accessible Club Soccer

Street Dreams was built for the community, by the community. We break down barriers to make club soccer accessible for all Milwaukee youth. Here's how:

Affordable Registration: We keep costs low for families. Collectively, SDSA's 360 families save between $222,000 and $1 million each year—money that would otherwise be spent at WI clubs charging $1,200 to over $3,500 per player.
Local Practices: We practice in convenient locations within 5-15 minutes of most families.
Community Coaching: We train local rec league coaches to become club coaches.
Bilingual Support: We leverage Spanish-English bilingualism to meet community needs.
