Haylan Engdahl was 19 years old. A sophomore at Milligan University studying exercise science, he was known for his passion and love for cycling. When he was clipped in, there was always a smile on his face. He was also known for the bold, wholehearted way he loved everyone he met, and for his larger-than-life smile. Haylan grew up in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, and graduated from Christian Life School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 2025.

Cycling was Haylan's love. He competed across the Midwest, earning wins and podium finishes before joining Milligan's team this year. On August 19, 2026, Haylan was killed during a training ride with his teammates when a driver struck the group near Hampton, Tennessee. Brayden Rodgers was also killed, and seven other teammates were hospitalized.

Haylan was an astounding young man. His drive for his sport preceded him and was shown through the many accolades he earned. He loved his younger brother Rylan with a bond like no other. He also had many friends who were so much more than friends, they were his brothers.

In his memory, Haylan's parents are asking that gifts be made to The White Line Foundation, in support of our mission to end road injuries and deaths, and create safer streets for everyone. It's a way of carrying Haylan's story forward, so that other families are spared this unimaginable loss.
