The Belize Reef Expedition: Adventure with Purpose

Before coral restoration and large-scale conservation can happen, scientists must first understand the reef. Reef Healers has launched a first of its kind research project at Lighthouse Reef Atoll to build the critical ecological baselines required for future restoration, and we’re inviting you to collect data alongside us.

This 7 day expedition blends raw adventure with hands on conservation. You will spend your days diving pristine reef walls, snorkeling vibrant shallow finger coral gardens, and mapping leeward mangrove nurseries alongside active researchers. As you document reef health and collect vital data, you will master the foundational techniques of marine fieldwork.

Upon completion of your 7 days, you will receive a Reef Healers Certificate, a lasting credential certifying the practical scientific skills you contributed to the reef. To customize your experience, we also offer specialized, add on Citizen Science Adventures that can be seamlessly integrated into your journey depending on your unique environmental passions.

By joining us, you become part of the team making this groundbreaking research possible. Your trip directly funds the data collection, knowledge, and local partnerships needed to protect Lighthouse Reef for the future.

Come for the reef.

Leave with the skills to heal it.

About Reef Healers

Reef Healers is a mission based organization that aims to expand the community of ocean conservation by connecting inland communities to coral reefs, operating under the principle that "Rivers Heal Reefs." Based in Colorado, a headwater state, our core focus is on bridging the gap between land and sea through education, direct action, and advocacy for water quality. We empower people, regardless of their proximity to the ocean, to take local actions (like river cleanups and waste reduction) that have positive downstream impacts on marine ecosystems. Every expedition we host raises vital funds to support tangible, long term conservation projects for both rivers and reefs globally.
