Our Story

One morning recently, six people were waiting for showers before our team had even finished setting up.

That moment reminded us of something important: the need is real, and it is growing.

DignitySOS began as an idea rooted in a simple belief—every person deserves dignity. Today, that idea has become a weekly reality for people across Texoma who need access to showers, hygiene resources, and soon mobile laundry services.

Now we need your help sustaining that work.

Why We Are Raising $10,000

It costs approximately $5,000 each month to keep DignitySOS operating. These funds support the people, equipment, insurance, communications, and operational infrastructure required to deliver services safely and consistently.

Our goal is to secure two months of operating support so we can continue providing services without interruption while expanding access to mobile laundry.

What Your Gift Makes Possible:

$25 – Helps provide hygiene supplies for a week of services.
$60 – Supports shower and laundry services at one 5-hour service site.
$167 – Sponsors one day of DignitySOS operations.
$500 – Sponsors approximately three days of services and operations.
$1,170 – Sponsors one week of dignity services services and operations.
$5,028 – Sponsors one month of services and operations.

Our Impact

DignitySOS began with a simple belief: every person deserves dignity. Today, that belief is becoming a reality across Texoma.

We currently provide a minimum of 20 showers each week through regularly scheduled service locations in Wichita Falls and Burkburnett. Beginning this summer, we are expanding service with a new weekly location at the City of Wichita Falls Public Library after being invited by the leadership of the 50+ Zone. We anticipate this additional service will provide at least eight more showers each week, with demand expected to grow.

Our impact extends beyond service locations. DignitySOS has also provided mobile hygiene services directly to individuals and households in Wichita Falls and Burkburnett neighborhoods, helping meet needs wherever they arise.

The community has recognized both the need and the effectiveness of this work. In 2026, DignitySOS was awarded a $65,000 Community Development Block Grant to support the expansion of services and strengthen our ability to serve the region. These funds are reserved specifically for infrastructure, such as trailer storage and security. They do not support operations.

At the heart of this work is an extraordinary commitment from staff, Asset Employees, and volunteers. Each week:

Executive Director Mel Martinez contributes approximately 40 hours of leadership and service. • Program Coordinator Bryan contributes approximately 30–35 hours of program management and direct support. • Asset Employees provide more than 25 hours of paid service each week, increasing to 30 hours beginning June 30, along with an additional 25–40 volunteer hours.

Together, this team makes it possible for DignitySOS to show up consistently, build trusted relationships, and provide life-changing access to hygiene services.

And we're not finished.

Mobile laundry services are currently under development and will soon allow DignitySOS to provide both showers and laundry at service locations throughout Texoma—removing one more barrier for neighbors working to maintain health, employment, housing, and dignity.

This isn't a future vision. It's a growing reality.
