In the heart of Oakland, Vertical Skillz Outreach has been a beacon of hope and empowerment for inner-city youth. Founded by Dalia "La Pantera" Gomez, a professional boxer and dedicated mentor, the organization uses boxing and fitness training to instill discipline, resilience, and confidence in young individuals. Beyond physical training, Vertical Skillz offers mentorship, life skills education, and unique travel experiences, broadening horizons and fostering community leadership.

Currently, the program operates out of a temporary tent in San Antonio Park. This setup, while functional, is vulnerable to the elements and limits the scope of activities that can be offered. For instance, in January 2021, extreme winds caused significant damage to the tent, disrupting programs and highlighting the need for a more stable environment.

Current Set Up

To continue and expand its mission, Vertical Skillz Outreach aims to build a sturdy (but mobile) structure in San Antonio Park. This facility would provide a safe, reliable space for year-round training, mentorship, and community events, ensuring that Oakland's youth have consistent access to the resources they need to thrive.
