Come watch the incredible movie Sing Sing and then join actor and criminal justice reform advocate Peter Sarsgaard in a moderated discussion with some of the film’s creators and stars, Clarence Maclin, John “Divine G” Whitfield, Jon-Adrian “JJ” Velazquez, and Sean “Dino” Johnson. Top donors are also invited to join the panelists at a VIP reception following the screening and discussion at Casa La Femme, 140 Charles Street. All proceeds will benefit the YEARS Project, which is dedicated to winning resentencings for people who were little more than children when they committed their crimes and received soul-crushing sentences -- even life without the possibility of parole -- before their lives had even really begun. The money that we raise will allow us to accept additional clients into the Project, whose cases cannot move forward without funding for “mitigation” specialists whose expertise is essential to uncovering and documenting the details that bring our clients’ stories and legal claims to life. Much like Sing Sing—depicting the camaraderie, self-reflection, and joy in acting that brings out its characters’ humanity—the YEARS Project shows how the tragic complexities of life may lead our clients to prison, but their remarkable capacity for growth, kindness and betterment proves why the harshest sentences are inappropriate. For more information about the YEARS Project, please visit our website at appellate-litigation.org. The Center for Appellate Litigation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your donation is deductible to the extent provided by law. Angelika Film Center & Cafe - New York<br> 18 W Houston St, New York, NY 10012, USA
