Since 1979, LBFE Boston has served thousands of older adults across Boston by building connections that span generations. This 47-year commitment to our older neighbors has resulted in a city that's home for everyone, at every age. With social isolation on the rise, your support is more important than ever.

However, social isolation and loneliness do not just affect older adults; they affect young people too, and we've seen it firsthand. Our weekly programs have been a place of refuge for college students who are many miles away from home. We've seen meaningful friendships form between older adults and college students through shared hometowns or languages. These mutual connections have the added benefit of helping college students feel they belong in Boston and reducing their own experiences of social isolation.

Every year, we are joined by nearly 200 college students who are spending time each week putting away their phones to connect with an older friend, and the results speak for themselves.
