ANOTHER HUGE FIRE AGAIN! THE FOURTH ONE THIS YEAR!

Yesterday, September 13, 2025, in Manila. Once more, Tondo was engulfed in flames. In only a few hours, thousands of families—our staff, scholars, and neighbors—were left with nothing but ashes. Twelve years of standing with this community, and still they suffer the same tragedy again and again.

Project PEARLS staff, scholars, and volunteers are among the victims. Families who used to come to our Hunger Relief Program for nourishment now find themselves displaced, with no roof, no food, no security. They are in evacuation centers, weary and broken, carrying the heavy weight of shock, hunger, and despair.

But we can rise together. Please help us provide shelter, school supplies, food, and hope for families who have lost everything.

URGENT:
Yesterday in Manila — August 6, 2025 — a massive fire ripped through the heart of Tondo, a community we’ve served and loved for over 12 years. In just few hours, hundreds of families lost their homes, everything was gone.

AGAIN.

And the worst part? We know it will happen again.

We’ve lived through this too many times. Entire blocks burned to the ground. Each fire comes with the same cruel rumors — that this isn’t an accident. That these flames are a message: Get out.

Tondo sits on land many consider “prime for development.” Families here live in places called Aroma, Helping Land, and Happy Land — labeled as “temporary housing,” but people have lived here for decades. And every time relocation is offered, it’s a lie wrapped in promises.

Project PEARLS cannot stop these flames from coming. We cannot fight the powerful forces that profit from this suffering. But we can show these families that they are not alone. That someone still sees them. That they are not disposable.
