Join us at 6pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Guitar Mansion (c. 1859) at 2815 N. Oakland Gravel Road in Columbia to hear from Geoff Taylor about his experiences working on historic buildings, which he describes as part restoration, part preservation, and part renovation. Geoff Taylor was born and raised in Boone County. His experience with historic preservation started with helping his dad work on a family’s 250+ year-old farmhouse and building and helping him build and erect a post and beam style house in Canada. He has been painting buildings professionally since April 2000 when he started working for Randy Fletcher’s Brighter Days!, where he learned the trade of painting, drywall, and plaster repair. Taylor incorporated Better Day Painting in 2020 with Al Moffet and Corrine Cavanaugh. Over the 25 years of working in the trade he has worked on many historic homes and buildings, including the Guitar Mansion and the Greenwood Mansion.
