Help Support Your Community!
In 1992, Jupiter Rural Residents was organized when many Jupiter Farms residents opposed a regional shopping center that was suggested for the property on which the Jupiter Farms Shopping Center has been built. The founding members of JRR were instrumental in getting the proposed center downsized by about two-thirds and helped to establish architectural guidelines for country-style buildings and hours of operation suitable for the rural community. Since then, Jupiter Rural Residents (re-incorporated as Jupiter Farms Residents) has been, and will continue to be, committed to preserve the country lifestyle of the Farms and uphold the Jupiter Farms Neighborhood Plan (one of the first of its kind in the county), which was formally adopted in 1994 by the Palm Beach County Commissioners.
Jupiter Farms Residents serves its residents in several capacities. Its elected Board of Directors and other volunteers, serve as a local watchdog group which protects and monitors outside influences upon our area. We try to keep a vigilant eye on internal and external forces that may impact our rural area and do our best to preserve what makes Jupiter Farms special to its residents. Jupiter Farms, as a community in unincorporated Palm Beach County, is constantly being looked at as a "cash cow" for utilities and other forms of government, both local and state. Without certain protections that being an incorporated city would provide, JFR works to protect Jupiter Farms to the extent of its capacity. JFR works diligently to be sure outside special interests are being monitored; whether from Palm Beach County, the South Indian River Water Control District, the Loxahatchee River District - all governmental bodies that have a very large impact on our way of life and on our future land assessments. We strive to make sure our voice is heard and our desire clearly understood.
JFR also holds monthly meetings for residents so they may better keep informed on various local topics, events, and matters of interest affecting them. The group also holds many free events in the community, such as Movie Nights, the Family Hoedown and Spring Fling, Candidates Events and Christmas Tree Sale, Sporting Clay Shootout. Plus, at the end of the school year, JFR awards scholarships to local graduating seniors. We also put out a monthly e-Newsletter so residents can be kept up-to-date on timely matters and events. Although JFR's Board of Directors are all volunteers and give selflessly of their time and personal resources, none of our events are cheap to produce. We would love to be able to do more for the community but money is always an issue. In the past, JFR Boards have asked for yearly contributions from resident families; we have not done that. Our neighbors in Palm Beach Country Estates have their Landowner's Association which bills their residents $40+ per year; which must be paid in order to be a voting member of their community - we have never, and will never do that.
However, Jupiter Farms Residents could truly use your help. Special event insurance, general liability insurance, legal review, vendors, scholarships, web hosting, professional services, etc. are all mounting expenses. Also, to be quite honest, we'd like to have a rainy-day fund, should the need arise to defend Jupiter Farms in the legal arena.
Please donate what you can to help us grow a stronger and better-protected community and help us to keep Jupiter Farms, Jupiter Farms. Year after year, it's getting more difficult to maintain what we have; so please, don't take it for granted.
