Andrew Berlan, aka Drew and Drew Man was born April 15, 1982 with the chest of body builder weighing in at 10 lbs. Around age 2, Drew managed to stand on our neighbors white shoes without being noticed and gave him a big smile. At about the same age, while were living outside of Newark, Ohio, Drew took his favorite teddy bear and tossed it into the family room fireplace.

Drew learned to ride to 2 wheel bicycle without training wheels at age 3 after I told him to stop arguing and just ride.

Drew asked to play football at age 4 and we found him a league at age 5 where he played with kids age 7. He had a big piece of tape on the helmet saying "Drew Man". Drew also played little league baseball from T-ball on up through pony league, winning tournaments in 1986, 1987 and 1993.

Drew continued playing football for Cleveland Heights, St. Paschal Junior High School and Brush High School. In 1995, he receive an award as outstanding linebacker. Drew played with his friends Matt and Greg Bell along with Jamie Mariano.

Under the surface life was never the same for Drew after the passing of his mother, Kathryn (Kish) Berlan in 1994. After too many years lost in turmoil, Drew joined the Navy. We all hoped this move would bring a sense of purpose and peace but it was not to be. Sadly, Drew passed away on December 23, 2008.

Drew will always be remembered for his big smile, warm heart, love of good food and love for friends and family.

The people I remember in my life were kind and extended a helping hand. If you want to be remembered, reach out to someone in need even if its a small gesture.
