Building a New Chapter at The La Crosse Lighthouse

The La Crosse Lighthouse is creating a new approach to peer-centered support for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, and other life-interrupting challenges.

Our Day Support program provides a structured, welcoming environment where people can connect with peers, build skills, explore recovery, work toward personal goals, and develop greater confidence and independence.

We are intentionally creating a program that is structured, but flexible. Each day includes planned groups, workshops, presentations, and other activities that provide opportunities for learning, growth, recovery, and connection. Participants choose the activities and opportunities that are meaningful to them based on their interests, goals, needs, and availability. They do not need to spend the entire day at The La Crosse Lighthouse to participate.

What We Are Doing

We are building opportunities for people to:

Identify and build on their personal strengths
Develop self-efficacy and recovery skills
Increase independence and confidence in daily life
Build ownership and accountability around personal goals, choices, and next steps
Better understand and advocate for their rights
Build meaningful connections within their community
Explore recovery, wellness, and personal goals alongside peers with lived experience
Develop the skills and confidence to navigate challenges and solve problems for themselves

At The La Crosse Lighthouse, we believe people are more than the challenges they experience.

We believe meaningful support should build a person's capacity to make decisions, solve problems, advocate for themselves, and create the life they want to lead. Rather than doing for people what they can learn and become empowered to do for themselves, we are creating opportunities for people to build the skills, confidence, and self-efficacy to take an active role in their own lives.
