We’re excited to announce the third annual Sun Radiothon, happening July 24th-26th at Jackalope South Shore, from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. each day. This three-day donation drive is a vital part of the Sun Radio Foundation’s mission to uplift and support the local music community throughout Central Texas. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our listeners and donors, last year’s Radiothon raised $30,000, allowing us to provide financial assistance to more than 200 local musicians.

This year, we have set an ambitious goal of $80,000 to help address urgent needs in Central Texas. Donations will help us replace essential equipment damaged during recent storms, keep our solar-powered broadcast network running, and continue our Recharge program. This program not only supports local musicians but also a portion of the proceeds will extend help to community partners like Kerrville Pets Alive and NAMI Central Texas, who have worked tirelessly in the areas of animal welfare and mental health for Central Texas Flood efforts.

The Sun Radio Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and an independent, non-commercial educational broadcaster. We receive no funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Our work is entirely supported by individual donations, local business underwriting, and community events. Every contribution helps keep our tower sites operating, our programming on the air, and our mission moving forward.

We call it “The Sound of Our Town”, and it is more than just a tagline. We spotlight local musicians not only on-air but also through live events and direct financial support. As Austin becomes increasingly unaffordable, we are committed to helping artists stay rooted in the city that helped shape their voices.

What sets us apart is our dedication to community, transparency, and sustainability. We are proud to say that not one cent of your donation goes toward salaries. That commitment has earned us the Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.

The truth is, we would rather be giving money away than asking for it. But to continue supporting the artists and communities who need it most, we need your help.
