Beat the Streets Baltimore: Building Strong Minds, Strong Bodies, Strong Futures

Beat the Streets Baltimore is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization transforming the lives of Baltimore City youth through the powerful combination of academic intervention, mentorship, and wrestling. Since our founding, we’ve reached more than 4,000 student-athletes, helping them achieve academic growth, emotional stability, and life direction through structure, competition, and personalized support.

Working in partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools, local and global academic institutions our programs blend education, athletics, and mentorship into one holistic system. Students receive individualized tutoring in Math and English Language Arts through our collaboration with Mwerevu Education, an international platform that employs high-performing university interventionists. These sessions have produced measurable results—students show an average of 3.7 years of improvement in reading and 1.6 years in math within a single school year.

Our wrestling programs are equally transformative. Operating at eight schools and two community centers, we provide safe, structured, and competitive environments where youth learn discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Through weekend tournaments, city leagues, and national competitions, Baltimore youth gain exposure, build confidence, and develop leadership skills.
