Character is what you bring to everything you do. It’s what signifies to the world what’s inside of you. It outlasts genius and talent yet propels both. It’s what we are admired for and remembered by. It’s what transforms piercing words to inspire you forward rather than tear you down. And it’s what allows you to walk away from failure determined, not defeated.
But we aren’t born with it. Character is learned, cultivated and shaped by our experiences. In a world where social pressures are always on, where calm and confidence are hard to access, and where perseverance is a required superpower every day, our kids are growing in new environments that are demanding more from them, and therefore more from us.
First Tee builds experiences that build character. Experiences are our greatest teacher. We believe in developing the ones that are just as fun as they are meaningful, where kids feel excited to grow, safe to fail, and better equipped for whatever comes their way next.
100 Holes of Golf is a golf marathon hosted by First Tee — Southeast Wisconsin. Players will play from sun-up to sun-down 100 holes on Sunday, September 12, at Hansen Park Golf Course in Wauwatosa or on Tuesday, September 14, at Hidden Glen at Bentdale Farms in Cedarburg. Each player commits to raising funds to support the mission of First Tee — Southeast Wisconsin, to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
Our youth development program is like no other. As we continue to expand our programming throughout our nine-county region (Fond du Lac, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha), we need additional funds so we equip kids who may not otherwise have access to the game of golf with the confidence, integrity, respect, and perseverance the game inherently promotes. First Tee programming allows kids to accomplish their dreams, thrive socially, excel academically and athletically, and become productive members of their families and society with integrity, strong values and commitment to community. Funds raised through the 100 Holes of Golf support additional green-grass program locations, equipment and training for the National School Program and DRIVE programming at local youth centers.
