Nancy’s Alzstars began participating in the Alzheimer’s Walk in 2018. We joined together as family and friends in honor of Nancy Whitehead as she battled a horrible disease with grace and a positive attitude. We watched as she progressed from minor confusion to the loss of all her precious memories, without ever voicing her fears or asking “why me”. She struggled mightily with a mind that lost all its abilities to remember and help her body function, but she never lost her beautiful smile. Although we often felt helpless, walking to raise funds to fight the disease was a way that we could combat the helpless feeling. My sweet mother Nancy passed away in the spring of 2020, so now her team participates in the walk in memory of her. She was blessed to leave that dark tunnel of the disease and enter the glorious light of heaven, whole once again. We are committed to fight this disease until there is finally a survivor of Alzheimer’s. We are determined to raise as much money as we can in memory of a remarkable woman who inspired us. We know we can conquer this disease with more funding to increase research efforts. The team thanks those who support our efforts through donations and joining us in the walk on October 1st. Our fundraising efforts and participation in the walk allows Nancy’s bright light to continue to shine.
