About the Rainbow Prom

For many teens, the prom is the epitome of their high school experience. But for students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer, it can be a challenge to feel like they belong. Yakima Pride decided to start a new annual tradition called "The Rainbow Prom," where attending LGBTQ+ youth are welcome and safe to be fully themselves.

Get ready to be inspired by the vibrant and diverse history of LGBTQ+ Pride flags! From Gilbert Baker's iconic rainbow flag to Monica Helms' meaningful "Transgender Pride" flag, each one represents a unique aspect of our community. And at Rainbow Prom, we're celebrating them all!

Whether you're attending the event or not, let the colors and symbols of Pride flags be a reminder of the importance of acceptance, love, and equality for all. So, put on your best attire and join us in celebrating the rich culture and history of the LGBTQ+ community. About Yakima Pride

Yakima Pride, located in Yakima, Washington, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and its partners through educational events, entertainment, community outreach, and celebrations of diversity. Yakima Pride produces each year Rainbow Prom, Yakima Pride Festival & Parade, and Pride Day At The Fair in Central Washington, one of the fastest growing Pride events in Washington State, plus a variety of educational and community events throughout the year.

Yakima Pride is run solely by committed volunteers from around the Yakima Valley. Our funding comes through donations and sponsorship. Yakima Pride is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and all donations are tax-deductible in the USA.
