Our Mission

The Prospector is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides competitive and inclusive employment for people with disabilities. For nearly a decade, we have shown the world through the operation of a first-run movie theater and gourmet popcorn business that those of us with disabilities are talented, motivated, and highly capable employees. The success of welcoming over 850,000 guests to an unparalleled sparkly moviegoing experience coupled with a popcorn business that receives orders from every state in the country is the result of our workforce; which continues to be disproportionately underrepresented in America. Nearly 80% of Americans with disabilities do not have a job.

Competitive and Inclusive Employment

Since 2014, we have employed 320 Prospects (the name of each and every one of us that works here). Approximately 75% of us self-identify with a disability, and 100% of us benefit from an increased quality of life that comes from earning a competitive paycheck. Having a meaningful job and the opportunity to be financially independent should be available to everyone. Quality of life comes from working, knowing you’re needed, having responsibilities when you wake up each morning, and having the financial means to make your own decisions. We often remind employers that the disability community is the only diversity group that you can involuntarily enter at any point in your life. We all can benefit from this mission.
