إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَاءِ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْعَامِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِي الرِّقَابِ وَالْغَارِمِينَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَةً مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

As-Sadaqat (specifically Zakat) are only for the Fuqara' (poor), and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything or stranded); an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.

OBJECTIVE

In Q1 [January - March], we raised and disbursed $8,503 to 12 women & 39 dependents in the DC | MD | VA metropolitan area. In Q2 [April - June], we raised $1,511 and was only able to support 3 women. In Q3, we raised approximately $5,000.

In order to better meet the needs of women in the community, we aspire to raise $15,000 in Q4 [October - December].

Who Qualifies for Zakat Through Ansar al-Nisa?

We align our charitable efforts with the 8 categories of recipients outlined in the Qur’an [Surah At-Tawbah (9): 60]:
