The Ken-Ton Kiwanis is a service club in the Town of Tonawanda-Village of Kenmore that raises funds to support programming in the Youth, Parks and Recreation department, scholarships for graduating high school students, support Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels, the James V. and Fay P. Ryan Paramedic Foundation and programs for elderly in the community.

Our scholarship ceremony this year will be held on Thursday, May 21st at the NOCO Pavilion, 450 Ensminger Road from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m. I am providing you with copies of the applications for the E. William Miller, Jim Sorrentino, Larry Winnert, US Veteran and US Vietnam Veteran awards. The E. William Miller award is given to a student who has participated in student government for multiple years or spearheaded a large project that benefits the community. It is named for long time Town Councilman Bill Miller who served the community for decades.

The Jim Sorrentino award is given to a student who has participated at a high level in multiple varsity sports for multiple years. The award is named for Jim Sorrentino who starred in baseball, football and basketball at Bishop Timon and whose sporting goods store on Sheridan Drive is a community landmark. The Larry Winnert award is given to a student excelling in a course of BOCES studies. There are two awards for students whose parents or grandparents served in the military and received an honorable discharge. One is specific to veterans in the Vietnam era and one is for any time period.
