Queering the Neighborhood: Conversations About Expanding Our Practice and Our Presence

Rev. Cassidy Hall will be at Louisville Seminary to deliver the lecture in person with an option for remote participants to join virtually. Registration is required whether attending in-person or online.

In “Queering the Neighborhood” the Rev. Cassidy Hall will be in conversation with Jessica Mesman, senior editor at The Christian Century, about what it means to queer our practice and presence in the midst of such a divided world. Sharing from her own stories and experiences, Cassidy will share the ways her own queerness has enlivened her spiritual practice and the presence she brings to her daily life.

How do we stay true to ourselves and our practices in such a chaotic world?
How do we love each other well in a culture of so much hate?

Join us as we wade in the waters of these questions together.

About Rev. Cassidy S. Hall (she/her)

Rev. Cassidy S. Hall (she/her), MA, MDiv, MTS, is an author, award-winning filmmaker, podcaster, and leading voice in contemplative spirituality. She is the cohost of the Encountering Silence podcast and the creator of the Contemplating Now and Queering Contemplation podcasts. Her films include In Pursuit of Silence and Day of a Stranger. Cassidy is widely published and resides in Indianapolis, where she is studying for her Doctorate degree.

About the Caldwell Lecture

The Caldwell Lectures honor former Louisville Seminary President Frank H. Caldwell who served from 1930 to 1964. Dr. Caldwell was Professor of Homiletics during his time at the seminary in addition to serving as President from 1936–1964. He also served as the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in the United States in 1966 after retiring from the seminary. In addition to the Caldwell Lectures a professorship in homiletics has been endowed in his name at the seminary. View prior lectures here.
