Catherine Weiss and Randi Mandelbaum founded the New Jersey Consortium for Immigrant Children (NJCIC) in May 2015 to mobilize lawyers and professionals representing immigrant children. They gathered these stakeholders to coordinate their efforts in responding to a then-unprecedented 80% increase in the number of unaccompanied children arriving in New Jersey. Under Randi and Catherine's leadership, the Consortium has grown to nearly 200 members and more than 25 partner organizations dedicated to closing the service gaps that harm young immigrants.

In early 2021, this community of practice led the charge in advocating for increased and equitable access to justice for the growing community of unaccompanied children putting down roots in the Garden State. This effort culminated in establishing New Jersey's Legal Representation for Children and Youth Program (LRP), as part of the state budget process in the Summer of 2021. It also laid the foundation for expanding NJCIC's vital services for immigrant children and youth, including holistic, youth-centered legal representation and a robust policy advocacy program.

To celebrate our tenth anniversary, we cordially invite you to join our Inaugural Founders' Breakfast, honoring this critical milestone, our trailblazing co-founders, and supporting the next ten years of impact and growth.

In responding to the current attacks on immigrants, NJCIC follows its guiding light—solidarity. Together, the community supporting immigrant youth can and will protect New Jersey's status as a model state for inclusivity, belonging, and opportunity.
