Michelle Ohnstad's Story

Mateo's Message was started after my cousin was lost to the fentanyl crisis in March of 2023. Mateo was a 22-year-old spunky, passionate and driven young man. On the tail-end of having COVID, Mateo was eager to feel better and was given "percocet" from a friend of a friend. It was 100% fentanyl and killed him that night. Mateo made our world a better place and now we are trying to do the same, for him. In his memory, his sisters and parents started Mateo's Message, a nonprofit, with the mission of educating and equipping recreational users with the information and tools to be fentanyl free.
