Seth is Portland’s unofficial run club mayor, hosting the largest community run in the city, weekly! His run community was extremely generous last year and he looks forward to bringing the Sam Day Foundation’ cause to the spotlight with another successful Buddy Run!
Seth is running in honor of Varun.

Varun is the epitome of positivity and resilience. His mantra is that there is life at the end of the tunnel. His four legged buddy, Blaze, is a labrador who came into his life in 2022, after his cancer diagnosis. Varun loves aviation and reads a lot about planes. He is also a Boy Scout and works at doing whatever his mobility will allow.

In 2021, after experiencing persistent leg pain while playing squash, Varun was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Despite undergoing extensive treatments, including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, he faced a relapse in 2023, requiring additional rounds of treatment. While treatments have impacted his mobility, his optimism never wavers. He draws strength from his family, community, and the encouragement of friends who’ve supported him every step of the way. Varun is a remarkable teenager whose resilience inspires everyone around him.
