What is KC BOOK BEAT?

KC Book Beat is dedicated to celebrating and promoting the literary talents and businesses in Kansas City. Help make our Spring 2025 catalog a reality! The catalog will feature a curated selection of local authors and literary events, providing readers with a comprehensive resource to discover and support the KC literary community.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

Our Mission

We aim to connect readers with local literary talent, fostering a deeper appreciation for the stories that shape our community. Through this catalog, we want to provide a platform for authors and publishers to reach a wider audience and strengthen their presence in Kansas City.

Why do we need your support?

Creating a high-quality catalog involves various costs, including design, printing, marketing, and distribution. Your contributions will help us cover these expenses and bring this project to life. The number of copies we print will depend on the number of sponsors and the overall demand. Here’s a breakdown of where your funds will go:

Design and Editing: Professional layout design, cover design, and content editing.

Printing: High-quality printing based on the number of sponsors and demand.

Marketing: Digital and printed promotional materials to spread the word.

Distribution: Shipping and handling to get the catalog into the hands of readers and contributors.

Events: Launch events, author meet & greets, and other promotional activities.

By contributing to our fundraising campaign, you’ll play a vital role in bringing KC Book Beat to life. We’ve designed several sponsorship tiers to accommodate various levels of support:

All KC Book Beat sponsors will have first access to event signups with discounted early bird pricing. You will keep your sponsorship level throughout 2025. All sponsors will have access to early bird, exclusive access, & discounted pricing for KC Book Beat events in 2025.
KC Book Beat is a semi-annual catalog and the release is celebrated at Lit & Libations in May and November.

We know that paying for all the things can be HARD! We have added some incentives into the tiers to help offset costs. You can create your own fundraising page to have friends/family/followers help support you in this journey. You can always upgrade your sponsorship level at any time!

Please Note: All donations and sponsorship contributions are nonrefundable. By contributing, you are directly supporting the mission of KC Book Beat and helping us grow Kansas City's literary community. All sponsors will receive a donation statement at the end of the year.

Sponsors will have the opportunity to pick up their complimentary copies of the KC Book Beat catalog at the Lit & Libations event. If you are attending, your catalogs will be available for pickup at the event’s designated sponsor booth. This is a great chance to meet fellow sponsors and connect with the literary community!

If you are unable to attend, we will arrange for an alternative pickup or delivery option after the event.

*To be considered for inclusion in the catalog, authors & businesses should be within a 3 hour drive of downtown Kansas City.
Anyone within the 1 hour drive time will be considered KC Local.
Anyone within a 1-3 hour drive will receive the KC Local-ish designation.
