Slant’d is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit reimagining publishing to be more accessible, equitable, and joyful for AAPIs everywhere 💛. We are a creative home for AAPI voices🏡, offering litmag and book publishing opportunities, as well as creative care programs and storytelling events. A fully volunteer-run, we commit every cent donated towards fueling the publication of diverse voices, ensuring our sustainability, and growing our creative care programs.

Dear Slant’d Community,

As you may know, publishing is an industry that has historically been inaccessible and unsupportive for AAPI publishers, editors, authors, and creatives. Because of this, so many diverse, authentic AAPI voices and stories are missing from the mainstream conversation. That’s where we come in. 🌈 Our mission is to uplift, amplify, and celebrate the work of AAPIs whose stories have long been left out of society’s collective narrative. From our years of experience, we understand the complexity of AAPI stories and the power of storytelling within our community.

As we create a more accessible and equitable way to publish, we feel it’s especially fitting that the commission and editing process of our inaugural slate of books coincides with the Year of the Snake 🐍. Just as the snake sheds its old skin to emerge renewed and evolved, this year will be one of growth for both us and AAPI publishing. With our first two titles now in hand, we are one step closer to making publishing more inclusive and helping AAPI voices be heard, seen and celebrated. And this where you come in 💖!

Our Goal: Raise $20,000 from individual donors like you by December 31, 2025.

📣 Amplifying AAPI Voices at Zine Fests: We are proud to be the publishers of many first-time AAPI creatives and our goal this year is to share their stories and art with as many people as possible by attending as many zine fests as possible. Your support will help cover tabling fees and transportation costs, allowing us to connect these voices with a broader audience. 🏆 Celebrating Our Community’s Stories: We are committed to ensuring that AAPI voices receive the recognition they deserve. This year, we will focus on increasing visibility for our creators' and our team's work, ensuring their talent is celebrated and acknowledged through official recognition and awards.

🎨 Providing Complete Artist Care Through our Signature Publishing and Programming Opportunities: We have been deeply embedded in the AAPI creative space for years. We have worked to remove barriers to publication and increase accessibility through our unique submission process for our litmag and books. Your gift will allow us to offer these publishing and programming opportunities to more AAPI creatives this year, enabling us to build on what has proven to be successful and impactful for our community.

What did my donation last year support?
First of all, thank you for your gift last year! Your generous contribution helped us make incredible strides. With your support, we 💝 published the 6th edition of our namesake magazine featuring 12 heartfelt stories by 21 AAPI creatives (with the highest number of submissions and publication donations we’ve ever had for an issue), 🚀 launched Blank Page Revival (a fee-free program designed to foster a safe space for AAPIs ages 25+ to create), and 🎉 celebrated AAPI voices with our community (some of us even got tattoos to mark the occasion at our LA Issue 06 launch party)!
