Running for a Good Cause

WPA is proud to participate as a charity partner of The TCS New York City Marathon, the largest marathon in the world. Support Team WPA as they train for and run the marathon on Sunday, November 2, all for a good cause.

About WPA

Founded in 1845, WPA is the nation's first organization for women impacted by incarceration.

We address the root causes of systems involvement through innovative and holistic programs and services, focusing on the interconnected needs of individuals, families, and communities.

Instead of investing in prisons and jails, WPA invests in women. Systems-involved women often face unique challenges, including high rates of trauma, intimate partner violence and abuse histories, economic instability, and the need for family reunification—and our comprehensive programs and services address these needs. By implementing alternatives to incarceration, scaling reentry support, and uplifting families and communities, we deliver measurable outcomes with enduring impact.

Through WPA programs and services, individuals can:

· find safe, affordable housing

· develop workplace skills and build careers

· reunify with their families

· plan for release while incarcerated

· achieve stability in the community

· access healthcare and address mental health needs

· receive support in court

· work toward personal goals

· avoid additional systems involvement
