Amanda Bart's Story

Every step counts. Every woman matters.

That's what keeps me going as I lace up my running shoes once again and prepare for the 2025 NYC Marathon on November 2nd. Yes, I'm back at it—running 26.2 miles for a cause that means everything to me.

Since 1845 (that's 180 years!), WPA has been fighting for women affected by the criminal justice system —women who are often forgotten in a system not designed for them.

This isn't just another charity run for me.

When I joined WPA's Emerging Philanthropists in 2015, I never imagined how deeply these women's stories would touch my heart. From Emerging Philanthropists to Associate Board Chair to my current role on WPA's Board of Directors, every woman I've met through this organization has shown me what true resilience looks like.

Here's where you come in.

My goal is to raise $3,000 before race day. Your donation — whether it's $10, $50, or $500 — provides real support for real women:

  • Safe housing when they have nowhere to go
  • Family reunification services
  • Counseling to heal from trauma
  • Job training to rebuild their lives

Many of you have generously supported my previous runs and WPA initiatives, and I can't tell you how much that has meant to me and to the women at WPA. If you're able to contribute again, I'd be so grateful.

Can't donate right now? I understand completely. You can still help by:

  • Sharing this email with friends, family, and co-workers
  • Sending me your favorite power-up songs for my playlist
  • Cheering me on virtually (or in person—I'd love to see your faces along the route!)

For 180 years, WPA has been asking "What about women?" in a system that often forgets them. I'm asking that same question as I run—and I hope you'll join me in answering it.

With gratitude and sore muscles,

Amanda
