Barbara Colt was a civil rights leader and feminist activist for over 40 years in Rhode Island. She was a mentor. She was a friend.

The Womxn Project is proud to be one of the many organizations to benefit from Barbara's incredible wit, ferocity, and clarity of purpose. On the first day of the legislative session, we will be honoring her in a place that she dominated- the Rhode Island Statehouse.

This will be a brief, intimate gathering of those who knew Barbara and those who carry on the spirit of her work. TWP has put together donations from Barbara's many friends and admirers to create The Barbara Colt Perseverance Award, which will be awarded to two individuals who are building on her legacy by advancing civil rights and healthcare access in Rhode Island. Recipients will be announced at 3pm.

We will share light refreshments and beautiful memories. We will continue the fight.
