We’re celebrating Chess Week Pittsburgh 2026 - and from today through Monday morning, we’re inviting our community to help Queens Gambit make its next move.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support the year-round work of the Queens Gambit Chess Institute, creating more opportunities for young people to learn, compete, teach, and lead through chess.

Our campaign theme, “64 Squares. Pittsburgh’s Next Move.” connects the chessboard to the bigger picture of what Chess Week represents.

This weekend includes two of the biggest moments of Chess Week: the Duo Cup, our flagship youth tournament and celebration, and our Chess in Schenley Plaza Pittsburgh Celebration. These events show what is possible when young people have access to chess - but our work continues long after Chess Week ends.

Since 2014, Queens Gambit has provided quality scholastic chess programming across Western Pennsylvania, bringing free and accessible opportunities into schools, libraries, community spaces, and neighborhoods throughout the region.

Your gift helps support:

Free chess programming in schools and community spaces
Paid teaching opportunities for young leaders
Tournament access and participation
Chess sets, curriculum, and learning materials
Leadership development
Beginner-friendly and inclusive chess opportunities
Continued programming throughout the year

Chess Week is one week. Our work happens all year long.

Help us reach $10,000 by Monday morning and keep moving the next generation forward — one move at a time.
