This year, Agents in Action has two amazing Midland families we are supporting. Please read their stories below. We are grateful for your support and help and look forward to seeing you June 6 at 12 PM!

The Vargas Family-

Stevie, a Marine veteran, former Texas State Trooper, and Midland police officer, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently undergoing treatment at MD Anderson.
Stevie is the kind of person who shows up for everyone else and he is an amazing husband and father . We have 4 amazing kids Jaython, Jarron, Autumn, and Jeremiah. Our oldest two are both autistic. Jaython is high functioning Aspergers, while our sweet Jaron is non verbal but the most loving and happiest boy ever. Our daughter Autumn is like a second mom in the house when it comes to helping and our Jeremiah is a big heart and just cares for everyone. I am a middle school special education teacher/high school Asst softballs coach at Andres ISD.
Just a little back story Stevie and I met at church at 16 and 15 years old and have been together we’ve since. We got married in 2008 and we tell people all the time we have been together longer than we have been alive!

The Wolf Family-

James and Clarissa Wolf are no strangers to putting others before themselves. Serving their community has never just been a job—it’s who they are at their core.
James is a firefighter with the Midland Fire Department, where he has spent the last 3 years answering the call to help others on their worst days. In addition to his role with MFD, he serves as the Chief of Northeast Volunteer Fire Department, where he has dedicated the past 14 years to serving Midland County. His life has been built around leadership, service, and a commitment to his community and the people in it.
Clarissa has devoted her career to caring for others as a nurse, working in postpartum, labor and delivery, and the NICU—walking alongside families during some of the most important and vulnerable moments of their lives. Most recently, she stepped into a role as a school nurse, continuing her passion for caring for children and supporting families in a different way.
Together, James and Clarissa have built a strong, loving family. They are proud parents to six children—their oldest daughter Mercedes (19), followed by their four boys Wyatt (9), Kaisen (7), Kye (2), and Colter (1), each bringing their own personality, energy, and joy into their home.

Recently, they welcomed their youngest daughter, Josephina, into the world.
Josephina entered this world surrounded by love, and with four big brothers and a big sister already looking out for her. Shortly after birth, she was diagnosed with truncus arteriosus, ventricular heart defect (VSD), atrial heart defect (ASD), as well as a bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate.
At just 7 days old, Josephina underwent open heart surgery. The following day, due to complications, she required a second emergency exploratory surgery. Since then, she has continued to fight through ongoing medical challenges, and her journey is far from over. Josephina will require multiple surgeries, procedures, and continued medical care in the months and years ahead.
Due to the complexity of her condition and the level of care she requires, the Wolf family has temporarily relocated from their home in Midland to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth to remain by her side throughout this process.
Because of Josephina’s needs, Clarissa will be stepping away from her career to focus on providing the stable, loving environment their daughter needs during this time. It’s a role she has embraced fully—bringing the same compassion and strength she has always shown to her patients, now into her own home.
The Wolf family is navigating this season with faith, resilience, and the same servant-hearted mindset they’ve always lived by. While their roles have shifted, their foundation remains the same—showing up, standing strong, and doing whatever it takes for their family and for others.

For a family who has spent their lives serving and helping others, they are now in a season where they must lean on the support of their community. Whether through prayers, sharing their story, or helping ease the financial burden that comes with extended medical care and time away from work and home, every bit of support means more than words can express.
The Wolf family remains incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love, encouragement, and support they have already received. They continue to take this journey one day at a time, leaning on their faith, their family, and the community standing beside them as Josephina continues to fight with everything she has.
