Aktive Minds Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing high quality programs and resources to families on the eastside of Detroit and surrounding areas, while actively working to eliminate barriers for youth participation and increase community engagement!

Founder, Sarah Deramo began her outreach efforts in 2020 with a project called JUST PLAY SATURDAYS. This effort was to keep kids active and engaged with a community playdate in the local park. Since then, she has set out to make sure that every child is given a fun, safe, loving space to create positive childhood memories, and that every parent is given support to make that happen!

The AMF Basketball Program began partnership with the Detroit Parks & Recreation in the spring of 2022 to reach more kids in the Detroit community and better fulfill its mission. University Liggett Schools partnered with Aktive Minds Foundation in the summer of 2024 to bring more resources and awareness to the basketball program. Recently, AMF began partnership with Impact Church of the Ravendale community to bridge more of the eastside in one space to create a greater dynamic!
