Every child deserves the opportunity to discover, explore, and see themselves as a scientist.

At Headwaters Science Institute, more than 75% of the students we serve attend low-income schools, where access to hands-on science education is often limited. We believe that a student's zip code should never determine the quality of their education or their future opportunities.

Through immersive field experiences, after-school programs, summer camps, and teacher professional development, we inspire curiosity, build confidence, and help students develop the critical thinking skills they need to succeed. Our goal is to help young people grow into informed citizens, engaged community members, and future leaders in science and beyond.

Our impact extends even further by training graduate students to become science mentors and equipping educators with the tools to bring meaningful, inquiry-based learning into their classrooms. By investing in students, teachers, and future scientists, we create a cycle of learning that strengthens entire communities.

Keeping these opportunities accessible is at the heart of our mission. Many of our programs are offered at little or no cost to underfunded schools, and we provide financial assistance so that no student is turned away because of financial barriers.
