The Hickory Log Story

For more than 50 years, Hickory Log has been a place of hope, security, and belonging for men with special needs. Founded in 1970 by Sarah and Al Munn, inspired by their son Rey, Hickory Log began with a simple but powerful vision: to create a permanent home where men with intellectual and developmental disabilities could be loved, feel safe, and build greater independence.

Today, Hickory Log provides a supportive personal care home where residents can grow in their relational, vocational, and financial skills while being part of a caring community that respects their individual worth.
