The Homeless Services Council (HSC) is passionate about preventing and ending homelessness on Florida’s Treasure Coast, and to ensure that if homelessness happens, it is brief and non-recurring. We partner with over 60+ organizations across Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin Counties to provide services to families who are at risk of or are currently experiencing homelessness.

Each year, the HSC conducts the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) mandatory, one-day, Point in Time (PIT) count. This count is conducted in all three of our served counties during one of the last ten days of January. Last years’ count was on February 20th, 2025. The PIT Count was delayed with approval by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) due to complications and disaster relief efforts brought on by the October 9th, 2025 storm, Hurricane Milton. The 2025 PIT Count showed a total of 569 individuals experiencing literal homelessness across the three counties.

The Annual PIT count is a key step in understanding the state of homelessness on the Treasure Coast. It represents a snapshot of both sheltered and unsheltered literally homeless individuals, youths, and families.

This year, we are humbly asking for your support. Your sponsorship/donations help cover the costs of backpacks filled with essentials, staff time, travel/gas fees, and direct support rendered to those we serve. Funding also ensures that we can involve and fairly compensate individuals with lived experience to help volunteer teams locate and interview those experiencing literal homelessness. Any funds raised above our goals are then used to provide follow-up outreach, case management, and supportive services/housing support to those identified during the count.

Volunteers and staff wear identifying t-shirts for awareness and safety. Those interviewed who are experiencing homelessness will receive Care-Packs which will include essentials and more information on resources and agencies that can help. They will include:

A list of resources available to help them exit homelessness.
Hygiene kit (wipes, sanitizer, toothbrush/paste, soap, etc.)
Food items (water/MRE/Non-Perishables)
GiftCard for Shopping Center
Sunscreen
Bug spray
Branded BackPack

We hope you will consider helping us reach those most in need. Together, we can uplift, aid, and protect those most vulnerable on the Treasure Coast.
