Teacher Appreciation Giving Day 2026

Board members of the V Foundation of South Louisiana invite you to join them in thanking the teachers at Vandebilt Catholic during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4th to May 8.

In his 2025 Apostolic letter, Drawing New Maps of Hope, Pope Leo XIV defines Catholic education not just as content transmission, but as an "apprenticeship in virtue". He emphasizes that “to educate is an act of hope” and argues that "when faith is true, it is not an added subject but a breath that oxygenates every other subject".

We know that teachers at VCHS share this hope their students each and every day! In conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Week, the V Foundation will distribute $200 bonuses to teachers for the third year. We understand the financial sacrifices teachers make to be a Catholic school educator. Our mission is to lessen that sacrifice and support teacher efforts in any way we can. We realize that $200 isn’t a great deal of money, but it is a start. For the second time, we are asking others to join us in supporting Vandy teachers by donating to the endowment fund. We currently have just over $600,000 on deposit with an immediate goal of $1,000,000 and a longterm goal of $10,000,000. The interest derived by reaching these fundraising goals will enable us to give teachers larger bonuses to soften the over $10,000 average yearly sacrifice made by teachers.

Our dream is that one day, with the help of the V Foundation, VCHS teachers will earn more than their public school counterparts without significant increases in tuition. We ask that you pray for the success of our teachers and share the links to the videos and the donation page with others. We also ask that you consider a gift to the teacher endowment fund during teacher appreciation week. No one at the V Foundation benefits financially from the donations. We are an all-volunteer board, who are passionate about supporting Catholic education by supporting the teachers at Vandebilt Catholic.
