Support Jay’s Vision!!

After seven years of work by dedicated volunteers, and with support of state and local governments, businesses, and organizations, the Lost River Trails Coalition celebrated the opening of the Jay Moglia Memorial Trail System at Lost River State Park on May 31, 2026. Jay was an Olympic trials qualifier, founder of Raw Talent Ranch where he held team building and skills training for talented cyclists, and Jay was an advocate for the potential of mountain biking in Hardy County. At the event, Jay’s contributions to the cycling community were recognized and applauded and to see his vision come to fruition was an exciting experience.

This first phase includes three miles of sustainably built mountain bike trails engineered and built to be enjoyed by riders of all abilities. Co-sponsored by the Hardy County Commission and the International Mountain Bicycling Association, who built the trails, this first phase was funded by a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant and a matching donation by the Jonathan D and Mark C. Lewis Foundation.

A boon to the Hardy County community, this mountain bike trail system serves as training trails for our local NICA team, the Hardy County Cryptids. It promotes health and mental well-being for these student athletes and adult users of the trail - local residents and visitors alike. Those who come to enjoy the trails at Lost River State Park also contribute to the local economy by supporting our restaurants, shops, and lodging places.

The trail system has received a second RTP grant to continue building the next 2.5 - 3 miles of trails as defined by LRTC’s long-term concept plan, developed by IMBA, a plan that embraces the future of dedicated trails in the park.
