Founded in 1991 by composer Sara Doncaster and cellist Darry Dolezal, the Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival brings world-class composers and performers to Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, offering concerts, educational programming, and the opportunity to celebrate fantastic music in one of New England's most beautiful settings.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Warebrook a success in 2026. From the student composers seminar to the masterclass to the concert itself, we had a wonderful festival and you helped make it happen!

Support and contributions from the community have always played a role in Warebrook's success. The festival is presented because we truly love music but there are expenses involved, including housing the performers, renting performance space, audio, and more. We are already working on applying for grants for the 2027 festival, but the 2026 festival, which was a rousing success, has been funded solely by friends, family, and the community.

Local roots

Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival began centered around Hillandale Farm, the Doncaster family dairy farm through which the sparkling Ware Brook flows. Over the years, performers, composers, and friends have gathered in sight of the garden at the farmhouse, embracing the tranquility and magic of the landscape.

Warebrook grew in scope and success from its start to 2012, when it was paused. The festival—with founders Doncaster and Dolezal, and some of the festival's most accomplished and beloved composers and performers—returned in 2026, but we still need your support!
