Times are tough. Budgets are tight. And kids are feeling the impact. Across our communities, programs that give young people opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and explore are being cut or scaled back. When resources are scarce, it’s tempting to think of outdoor education and adventure as something extra. But we know better.

Nature is not extra. Education is not extra. And giving kids the opportunity to experience the outdoors should not be a luxury.

For many young people, an outdoor program is a chance to step outside their everyday world, to breathe fresh air, build confidence and connection, and learn about nature firsthand. Last year, with the help of our community, Wild Whatcom was able to bring over 4,000 participants outdoors at local parks, beaches and trails across Whatcom County.

Your donation today will support our 2027 youth programs for ages 0 - 18. When other opportunities are being shuttered, let’s not take more away from kids. Instead, let’s give them a place to thrive.
