More Than Bowling: Building Great Futures Through Mentoring

For many young people, having a caring adult who consistently shows up, listens, encourages them, and believes in their potential can make a lasting difference.

At the Boys & Girls Club of Alpena, mentoring happens every day. A young person may walk through our doors looking for a place to spend time after school, but what they find is so much more. They find staff and mentors who know their name, ask about their day, celebrate their accomplishments, help them work through challenges, and encourage them to discover what they are capable of achieving.

Over time, those everyday moments add up.

A youth who may have once been hesitant to participate begins trying new activities. They develop stronger relationships with their peers and trusted adults. They discover opportunities to volunteer, become a leader, explore future careers, and recognize that they have something meaningful to contribute to their community.

That is the impact of mentoring.

Bowl for Great Futures helps make these relationships and opportunities possible. Proceeds from the event directly support our mentoring programs, giving local youth access to positive role models, encouragement, guidance, and experiences that help them grow into confident, caring, and responsible young adults.
