Introducing our Keynote Speaker, Anna Vasquez

Anna Vasquez is a nationally recognized advocate for justice reform and a survivor of a wrongful conviction that stole nearly two decades of her life.

Wrongfully convicted in Texas based on false accusations and deeply flawed forensic testimony, Anna was sentenced to decades in prison for a crime that never occurred. Alongside three other women — collectively known as the San Antonio Four — she maintained her innocence for nearly 20 years while incarcerated.

Her eventual exoneration was not only a personal victory, but a powerful reminder of the systemic failures that can lead to wrongful convictions — and the perseverance required to correct them.

Anna’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the enduring pursuit of truth. Her remarks will serve as both a call to action and a reminder of why innocence work matters.

Our Work

For more than 25 years, Rocky Mountain Innocence Center (RMIC) has worked to correct and prevent wrongful convictions in Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming. During that time, RMIC has grown from a few volunteers handling post-conviction claims of innocence to a small full-time staff and dozens of pro-bono attorneys handling more than 60 cases. Each case is meticulously screened to ensure precious resources are directed to worthy claims of innocence.

Because of generous supporters like you, RMIC can complete this work at no cost to any of its clients. There is still a great deal of work to be done and each case has expenses—DNA testing, client visits, private investigation, document and evidence requests, prison communication services, and costs of operating a small law firm can add up quickly.
