In 2024, My Hometown Heroes learned about a brave young soul named Pierce Phillips. At My Hometown Heroes, our mission is to help bridge the gap between cancer and college one scholarship at a time.

The Phillips Family lost Pierce in October 2009 at 20 months old from pediatric cancer. Their family then started the Pierce Phillips Charity. Since then they have raised over $2,000,000 to help other families battling cancer where funds have helped fund 7 clinical trials and helped hundreds of families with financial assistance through their cancer journeys.

In 2024, Pierce would have turned 18 years old which old where he would qualify to begin his college journey. The Phillips family learned about My Hometown Heroes through a mutual friend Brandi Anderson and they wanted to start a memorial scholarship in memory of Pierce.

The Pierce Family and My Hometown Heroes formed a partnership and began seeding an endowment that would create 2 $2,000 each year for My Hometown Heroes that is now known as the Pierce Phillips Memorial Scholarship.

Our goal is to continue increasing this fund where more and more college-bound cancer survivors can benefit through the My Hometown Heroes scholarship program.

We thank you for your support in helping carry forward Pierce's legacy.
